The earth is nearing the end to a surface ice age that has prepared a climate that will take 6000 more years before being ready for its new inhabitants. It is during this year that we first fashioned the idea that time was a “fabric.” Fragments from a comet measuring over 60 miles wide kindled the global firestorm that would seal the perfect color red in my mind forever. The swirling dust clouds mixed with ash were as extraordinary as any kaleidoscope you may ever see, as ice and water crystallized into a brilliant explosion of diamonds and lace.
