“Hot In The Shade” — Poolside
ZO has an articulated affinity and relationship with clouds . . . the pages of our Poetry ZOne are all cloud/water themed, from the main Ocean page to What Cloud Are You On?, Precipitation and What Is The Grass? Our initial launch party — Cloud Formation at The Tropics — held this same metaphorical connection in its “CLOUD” of artists gathering to witness what we can change together . . .”
ZO launched in this present incarnation in 2014 with a primarily poetry-filled extravaganza at The Tropics (an exotic nursery in Hollywood, CA that did the plant work for Jurassic Park – see more photos below). We’ve promoted live aspects of our project since its inception and are presently planning several new projects, including the launch of a private social network.
ZO is coming FULL CIRCLE as we plan the next phases for our international media project. These plans will be funded through an international sponsorship campaign now developing at our Reach the World Through Art page. Check it out and connect with us by sponsoring your city (or any one you may have connections and info on). We want our sponsors to help us curate art from the City they sponsor.
ZO has connected with artists in over 170 countries around the world and we have had plans to orchestrate a 12-hour creative event with input from a lot of them.
We kicked off our magazine’s launch with a Poetry Expo – followed by a live event we called “Cloud Formation at The Tropics” highlighting poetry.
We’ve tried to list folks below in somewhat of the order of their appearance in the video and also included links when we have them. Please send any corrections or omissions, if you see them, and by all means update your current contact info with us at info@zomagazine.com.
. . . we totally plan to keep and continue all of these creative connections and would love to know what you’ve been up to. For those who we’ve done a few things with, links go to ZO pages we are creating for our ongoing creative connections and we’ve put webpages for others when we have the info.
The Tropics is a real nursery, not necessarily a performance venue. The exotic plants are unquestionably the most interesting plant-life you will find in Los Angeles, so if you ever get the chance – do visit them on Santa Monica Blvd. (as long as they’re at that location).
These tropical plants love the heat and moisture and on the day of our event, it was probably 100 degrees with no air conditioning. OMG, THANK YOU everyone for coming, for staying, and for having fun!
With creativity, it is not just the craft that appeals to ZO, but the positive energy, the spirit of friendship and giving. We truly have to keep spreading this kind of creativity around the world. If we keep at it, maybe we can make it a little better, maybe creativity can change the world.
Since beginning this phase of online publishing, we have hosted a number of other “Live Adventures” in collaboration with Ericco Studio, who has been a part of ZO since its first incarnation. In 2015, Ericco opened up a 10,000 sq. ft. facility where ZO had space among other artists. We collaborated on many live events, regular coffee houses, art showings exhibits, musical, fashion and poetry showcases and were able to do a lot of filming.
This video is a combination of a few of the artists resident there. It was a true blessing and we have lots of footage and photos; but are just getting into position to sort it all out for presentation. A lot of the creative content we are building will, hopefully, go into our unique film project, The O.D.D. Room.
