Bio: Catie Jarvis is an author of fiction, as well as a yoga instructor, a competitive gymnastics coach, an English and writing professor, a surfer, and a mom. She received her B.A. in writing from Ithaca College, and her M.F.A. in creative writing from the California College of the Arts.
The ZO Creative Team has been tremendously enhanced by her presence and participation in our Expos, Zoom With ZO outreaches, and out-of-the-box creative brainstorming sessions. Catie’s multidisciplinary talents have brought a new energy to our Team. Her column “The Fiction Portal!” is morphing in a few directions, as do most of the departments in ZO.
“You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf!”
– Swami Satchidananda
Catie grew up on a lake in northern New Jersey and now lives in Los Angeles with her husband, her daughter Skywalker and lots of surfboards. She finds the world to be a strange place and loves writing that examines the ambiguity of “reality.”
Jarvis’s debut novel, The Peacock Room, tells the story of a young man with a mysterious medical condition, and the frustrated musical savant who falls in love with him. Her most recent short stories have been included in the Made in L.A. Anthology. She is currently at work on two novels and a screenplay. Find more about the author and her writing at catiejarvis.com.
