According to Tarak Mahadi, author of the book Spirit of Beauty & Beast, “art is the universal language of life.” Given that his new book is written in both Bangla and English, it is all the more clear that Mahadi values the accessibility and openness that art brings. An independent artist himself, Mahadi’s portfolio boasts works of paint, dry pastels, watercolor, sculptures, and sketches.

No matter the medium, he manages to capture the intimacy and expressiveness of the human experience, and also the quiet beauty observed in nature. Even still, Mahadi himself feels that some emotions are too vast to be properly conveyed by painting, and he also finds his alternative in the world of poetry.
