CIRCLES
An Experimental Poem — Full Version
Photo: ZO Magazine “Circles” Teen Expo Photography Winner: Katherine Fitzgerald
The lines below came from an Experiment ZO did with Musicians interviewed during the year of our Teen CIRCLES Expo. Each musician interviewed submitted a line of poetry based around one singular concept; circles. Nothing more, nothing less. The following is the result of a year-long poem built week by week by talented musicians from all over the world. As a bonus, each highlighted word takes you to their ZO interview.
We live in an ecosystem where the individual is no longer conscious of discerning the reality of the virtual, he is governed by universal thinking. Let’s be an actor of our thought. Free your mind get out of the circle.
One step longer than the other, imperceptible, but it will bring me back, someday.
When the fire burns too hot and the disadvantages seem to keep piling up, don’t let the heat keep you from taking your shot; when it all comes back around your effort will prove to be enough.
A car, a CD, one hour, crying, its OK.
The space around what we create can’t save us from our fate.
Blending motions through the haze, what was old becomes new again.
Around and around and around and around and around and then around again.
A circle is eternity. How’s that?
I wander forever to get to the center.
Will the record stop spinning after the world does?
I think I now can see, the path I’m meant to go down when life is full of seasons, and everything comes back ‘round.
You don’t have to say tomorrow’s waiting. You don’t have to say today is here, but if you’ll hold me one last time I’ll know its right to believe.
The rays of the sunburn sugary brown like earth in the morning, till midnight is crowned.
Been singing my songs in endless loops; am I coming full circle, or jumping through hoops?
But turn around, turn around again.
When it seems you are just going round in circles. Remember that each revolution is also a change in elevation.
Everything you lack, will circle back.
You said you saw me as the circle to your square. How was I to know I didn’t belong there?
Embrace me…Mold me…Make me…But don’t break me…
Life/death/life and we’re here again. The endless circle motion got me swaying heavy.
Don’t ever look behind you. There is nothing but a spiral
create without end; habitual start. it’s bigger than us; our RITUAL is art.
Never Miss A Moment, we’re not always granted the opportunity again
I mess with your mind when I flip things around
Life is a series of tiny dots that curve in circles, you just have to connect them to be complete.
Like a dog returning to its vomit, the never-ending circle of selfishness doesn’t seem to phase us, not one bit.
Round and round we go, who turns the next table, we’ll never know.
Where beginning meets end, darkness we realize isn’t our friend. It doesn’t matter; break the pattern. We push through the same 24, just to end another fallen on the floor; it doesn’t matter; break the pattern.
Fleeting, like the dog I never owned.
The circle was broken, by and by.
Hope is the force by which vicious circles will be broken.
You travel around the world inside your bed.
We can take our time stop, talk, laugh, then fall right back in line
Keep coming around, keep coming up, here we go again, back n forth, through n through.
Now I’m watching you in slow motion, making rings around as I go around the bend to make amends ‘till I’m finally home bound. Couldn’t be just anyone who shines a love light on me; You’re oceans and green, and that’s all I need.
You won’t find an angle when looking too closely at the ring.
Take that bullshit, and turn it into good shit. This life changed my song.
I look ahead, I see great things, I see curly hair, I see babies. We’re always changing, and that’s the only thing that ever stays.
Ocean starts with the letter O. An O is nothing but a circle. Imperfect as it may be.
Life is like a circle. No matter what something or someone is always going to be in your way. But you have to be the one who is strong enough to get through it.
Love again, unchanging, perfect…again.
This seems to be my new chic, getting in too deep calling out ‘I want, what I want, what I want’
Life is a pattern, a cycle of motions, It seems never-ending, until we get where we’re going
I’m moving through these circles, connecting moments and time, to a place I can call home, dreams and spaces in my mind
Circles are angering because you have been here before. Circles are comforting because you have been here before.
Around around around again, cleo-p, the two best friends.
Dive deep, you will return to the surface eventually.
If only you could see, I’m running in circles to break free
Start at the beginning, end at the start.
Time your lines to the ticking sound of a second hand. Hold your breath and let the thoughts suffocate in your chest
When one ends another begins; a continuous cycle.
Spiraling to heal 10,000 feet up, the room I made for anger, the room I made for love. From here I can see it all, made to face it and float.
If it’s the end and if it’s hard, it only means we’re at the start.
Circle of Life: Cycle of loving your experience and then wanting it all to stop, only to have it start again.
Follow the circle, even when it’s too dark and you can’t see, it will make sense in the end when your circle’s complete.
It doesn’t matter how fast I run, I always end up right back here.
The world keeps on turning. Things are always changing. Everything is moving. It brings us something new, something true. Let’s take one step at a time
Shining like lunar lights, so you’ll always know; every night satellite orbiting your home
We’re caught in the act, guilty of all our lust, the line between right and wrong, cuts through each of us
We stay up so late that we wake up the sun, it spends the day sharing thoughts of summertime.
Eyes unglued from the horizon. The day allowed to come back. All the way around on its own; you’re gonna have to face your dreams.
In the beginning, I didn’t think it would last, in the middle, it would not move fast enough and at the end, I’ll wish I had more time. If I could go back though I fear I would be back to where I was and not where I am. So I write this and wait for the next moment.
I’m always around
The bags under my eyes reminding me I will always be a zero — nothing.
I walked as far as I could until I ended up where I began. Circling back to a new beginning.
If you’re going in circles, feels like you’re going nowhere, then make that nowhere somewhere you wanna be.
We came full circle and I’m upside down, I’m sick from all this spinning around
Were floating in an orbit, searching for your portrait.
If you choose to walk in circles you will journey a lifetime in the same place.
I jumped in the fire to save you… and realized I was the one that needed to be saved.
Round and round we go, aimlessly searching to quiet our woes, ending right where we’ve started, breaking the chains that hold.
we go galloping restless into town on our own white horse and I ask you why we always take the long way round?
12 AM is the marker of a new day. What may seem like an endless circle might just turn out to be an opportunity to create.
This time I’ll take my name off loop for you to hear it loud; Cuz I’d rather be the hoops in your ears, to hear what it is that I fear you talk about
Running lines of circled symmetry, I always knew I’d meet you back here again
If each season has its ways, bound in strokes and rhythm. Entwined like a braid, I am moving with them.
If the pressure of youth can’t be put to bed, then the crows will happily circle overhead, outlast the crows, as their pressure is your lack of.
Circular emotions; never-ending chains
As all flowers seem to be wilting, it’s the seeds that were planted that seem to begin blooming.
Where we’re going comes from where we began. With every physical step forward, we must simultaneously reach further back to hold on to who we are. Our life, in the end, is just the diameter. A line that cuts through the area which is defined by our love.
My closest friend closes the circle, the start of my musical journey to now
I’m just a toy that you wind up. You are the spinning I can’t stop.
Round and round I go, searching for meaning’s door, but in the end, it didn’t even matter anymore.
X after x, o after o love keeps evolving getting bigger and better the further we go.
