Say Sumthing isn’t taking any breaks as we near the end of the year. Oh no. With “Bipolar 1.0” dropping on October 27th, Say Sumthing admits that there is more to be had just in time for the Halloween season. Keep on reading on to find out what that is, as well as working with Proper Ganda and Dog Eat Dog, and more!
Kendra: As for Say Sumthing, Loodee, and Maarlo, you’ve been making music for quite some time. How did everything begin?
Say Sumthing: We’ve always been inclined towards music, often performing dances at school and local competitions. However, we began to consider a musical career seriously after visiting a youth centre in Wimbledon that housed a recording studio.
Kendra: At the end of October, you’ll release “Bipolar 2.1” with Proper Ganda and Dog Eat Dog. This song emphasizes UK slang, creatively woven into its musicality. Why focus on UK slang?
Say Sumthing: Having grown up in South London where slang is prevalent, our primary aim was to represent our roots. We wanted to convey that using slang in songs doesn’t always associate with negativity.
Kendra: Were there slang terms you wanted to include but couldn’t, that might appear in future songs?
Say Sumthing: Given that we had just one track, we tried to include as many relevant words as possible related to the song’s theme.
Kendra: What unique elements do you think Proper Ganda and Dog Eat Dog added to “Bipolar 2.1”?
Say Sumthing: They merged the dark, intense genre of drill with raw yet smooth vocals. Their stern yet danceable romantic vocals were essential for the track.
Kendra: Do you plan to collaborate with them in the future?
Say Sumthing: Absolutely, collaborating with them is always a joy. We feel like a dream team and eagerly anticipate sharing the magic we create together.
Kendra: Lastly, with “Bipolar 2.1” releasing on October 27th, what should fans look forward to this fall?
Say Sumthing: We intend to release “Thriller” this year, just in time for Halloween. We’ve had this song in the works for about three years, and we can’t wait another year to share it.
