Circles
A Poetry Experiment with the Musicians of ZO 2018
ZO and Kendra Beltran, our resident Music Editor, orchestrated a truly unique poetry project — asking each musician interviewed throughout 2018 to submit a line of poetry based around one singular concept; circles. Nothing more, nothing less. The entire poem “CIRCLES” that came from that experiment can be found at the link above; but I couldn’t resist taking the highlighted key words from each musician’s poetry line to see what that random flow would yield. I left the first sentence by music artist Fred Blue and last line by Sierra And The Radicals and let the key words from all of the other interviews just write the poem. The commas are where they naturally landed and paragraphs are cut at the natural periods.
Here it is and the highlighted words take you to each of the musician’s interview that penned that particular key word. So loved this! River Alexander | Concept Director

We live in an ecosystem where the individual is no longer conscious of discerning the reality of the virtual, he is governed by universal thinking. Let’s be an actor of our thought. Free your mind get out of the circle.
imperceptible, fire burns too hot a CD, our fate.
Blending motions around eternity.
forever stop spinning circle of stairs now can see, today is here, till midnight is crowned.
coming full circle, turn around each revolution will circle back.
you saw me Mold me here again.
a spiral without end; A Moment, I flip in circles, the never-ending circle round we go, darkness Fleeting, broken, vicious world take our time keep coming I’m watching too closely life changed look ahead, Imperfect as it may be.
Love again, seems to be never-ending, these circles, comforting best friends.
will return break free the beginning, ticking continuous cycle.
it’s hard, loving when it’s too dark I run, one step at a time
orbiting guilty sharing thoughts.
Eyes unglued in the middle, always around reminding Circling somewhere you wanna be.
sick floating in the same place.
I was aimlessly restless to be an opportunity I fear I’d meet you Entwined like pressure of youth never-ending wilting, further back the start of my spinning searching.
X after x, o after o love keeps evolving getting bigger and better the further we go.
