Music has always been a constant for Sarah Krimson. Looking back, she said she knew at an early age that singing and writing were going to be her future. As she puts it, “When I grew up I put those two passions together.” With her passions in place, Sarah Krimson set off for London over five years ago and since then has been putting in the work. We started with the initial move and found our way to her latest single, “Lithium,” and even got a peek at what’s to come!
Kendra: What led you to London in 2015? Did you have a plan of action or was it like one of those, “I just need to go and figure it out” situations?
Sarah Krimson: It was kind of both, I knew I had to move out of my hometown to be able to pursue music the way I wanted to, but being straight out of high school I wasn’t quite sure how to handle life in a big city like London. I can say this experience helped me grow up as a person, so I’m glad it started like this.
Kendra: Now about two years after that you started writing your latest single, “Lithium.” How many versions of this current single have there been over the years?
Sarah Krimson: When I wrote “Lithium” I instantly knew it was my favourite, so I wanted to give it the importance it needed. That’s why I worked with three different producers, fortunately, the third version was the right one.
Kendra: As for the video, it gives off a crime/mystery documentary vibe. Are you a fan of that genre?
Sarah Krimson: Yes!! I binge on true crime documentaries all the time!
Kendra: I sort of got that from you with songs like “Coven” and the gothic-inspired fonts in the video as well as your socials. Have you always been drawn to the more alternative side of life, and do you think drawing from a place that’s a little darker at times drives your creativity the most?
Sarah Krimson: My attraction to the darker/alternative side of things has always come naturally to me, there wasn’t a particular event in my life that shifted my perception of beauty. I moved to London also because it matches my personality. I find myself to be more comfortable at writing new songs when it’s winter and it’s raining.
Kendra: “Lithium” is your third single this year. Are there plans to drop an album or can we be on the lookout for more singles later this year?
Sarah Krimson: I’ll be releasing an EP with new songs, so be on the lookout for a completely new sound!
Kendra: It’s hard to know exactly what we’ll be doing in the future with all the craziness still lurking about in this world, but as of today – what are your plans heading into the fall?
Sarah Krimson: I have a solid project this time, and with the support I have. I’m looking to expand my fan base and reach as many people as possible!
